Theme 3 focuses on the processes that have lead to economic growth over time, from the impacts of the Industrial Revolution and the rapid onset of globalisation all the way to issues surrounding natural resources such as fossil fuels and renewable energy sources. The core of this theme is what is known as the Nexus, the interdependent elements of Water, Food and Energy.
For each unit outlined below, you will find a RAG sheet and a Knowledge Organiser.
Red/Amber/Green (RAG) or Personal Learning Checklist sheets like the one below are used to check the students level of confidence in relation to each content item. This will help the students identify the areas they should focus their revision on in the first instance (Red or 1).
Knowledge Organisers (KO) are resources containing all the core content for each topic. Use the KOs in conjunction with the revision techniques outlined in the Revision Techniques in Geography section of the website.
There is also a list of the case studies (examples) that are required to show the application of geographical knowledge. Case studies offer students the opportunity to use place specific knowledge of a place to discuss, analyse or evaluate the geographical process, concept or impact learnt in each unit.
